Multi-language input for Windows, Tablet PCs, and cell phones
Posted on Tuesday, April 05 2005 - 15:30:12 EDT

Handhelds, Portables, Cell Phones Exideas, Inc. Today released a new version of its MessagEase text entry software with multi-language, multi-alphabet support. Available for free download from www.exideas.com (free for the first two months). This latest version of MessagEase's Onscreen keyboard runs on Windows (XP or 2000) and Tablet PCs. In addition to its native English keyboard, it includes support for Japanese, Hebrew, Arabic, Persian, German, Spanish, and French. This software is also user-configurable for any other language or alphabet, including Chinese and Korean.
Depending on the alphabet and language, handwriting recognition is either non existent or slow and inaccurate; MessagEase offers the fastest and most accurate text entry method for cell phones, Tablet PCs, and PDAs, regardless of the language and alphabet used,” said Saied Nesbat, Ph.D. President and CEO of Exideas, Inc. “MessagEase's new modular and customizable design can easily support Kanji, Bengali, Korean, or any other language, making it a complete cross-platform and universal solution for cell phones, and other mobile devices."

Scientifically designed and optimized for general purpose text entry on small devices, MessagEase's patented keyboard system has fewer keys and uses a combination of taps and slides for entering all characters on these few keys. All characters are assigned based on their frequency of use; more frequent letters are assigned to faster and easier taps. This design leads to an ideal text entry when only a single stylus or a single finger is used, and since there are fewer keys, the area required for MessagEase's keyboard is much smaller than that of a QWERTY keyboard. These fewer keys also make MessagEase an ideal technology for cell phones. In addition, since MessagEase can be operated with one hand, it supports mobile text entry applications in automotive, entertainment, wearable computing, and military.

MessagEase is also implemented for Palm and Pocket PC PDAs and is enjoying the support of a growing number of Tablet PC and PDA users. Free downloads (free for the first two months) of all MessagEase products are available at http://www.exideas.com.
